Camp Frederick Douglass at the New Bedford YMCA
Welcome to Camp!
Camp Frederick Douglass at the New Bedford YMCA honors the legacy of world renowned African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman, Frederick Douglass. For the 2018 Camp season we will incorporate dynamic, hands on learning, in collaboration with the New Bedford Historical Society, as we join in the global bicentennial celebration of Frederick Douglass’ birth. In addition to our traditional camp games and activities, campers will learn about Frederick Douglass and the history of his time in the city of New Bedford through daily projects, field-trips, museum visits and hands-on activities.
